If you are new to O Gauge trains then it’s well worth taking a look at this document which lists 7 mistakes to avoid when starting out with model train sets. Of special interest to O Gauge’rs perhaps is the section on distinguishing scale from gauge and also the warning about making sure your trees are not too small. O scale trees representing a real tree that is 72 feet high for example, and that’s by no means enormous for a mature tree, would need to be 18 inches high, so whilst it may be tempting to big up some bargain model railway layout ordered online or form a catalogue, it will end up looking all wrong if you place a forest of six to eight inch trees next to your o gauge trains.
