Try contacting a model rail club. They are normally enthusiasts and trusting.
My friend and I run a O gauge club in the South East and have just finished selling a collection for a past member.
I must warn you that selling Track is not easy…in the end, you normally give it away for pennies.
I do know of a few people scattered around the country that may also be of help to you.

REAL Hornby oo gauge ceased production in 1964. Neither Wrenn or that horrible cheap Triang stuff ever filled the gap properly. My Dublo will still be running long after the current Chinese made trash has fallen apart. Won’t have the stuff in the house.

Unfortunately I believe that particular Basset Lowke steam engine with track etc has probably alrady been sold but there are sometimes others coming up for sale. best to bookmark the site here and come back to have a look from time to time.

For the best in British “oo” Gauge model railways buy the original Hornby Dublo all metal construction (not plastic Hornby) or Wrenn who split from the Lines Bro’s i.e. Triang & bought out the Hornby Dublo Moulds left over from their take over of Hornby Dublo. As stated all metal construction, “oo” gauge, will last for ever, even out live you, plenty of spares available, join the H.R.C.A. the H.D. Collectors Assoc. Best place to buy: ebay. Regards, A.

Well done you and lucky him, Hornbys office is in "Margate" Kent. they like other companys moved the manufactureing of the product to "China" some 10yrs ago. As with most things bought to day, there all made their.

Well he`s got what he maybe has wanted for years. The only thing is now the bug (model trains) has bitten him, he`ll be trying to talk you into him having the spare bedroom as "his model" room. they all want this……so your battle with him begins. At least you`ll know where he is all the time, because he`ll get "very involved" with his new hobby. Come birthdays and xmas you won`t be "stuck" anymore as to what to get him.

A lot of "big boys" have a hankering for this type of hobby. it has a very big following…….Just 1 thing more………..call it a "model railway" and refer to his trains etc. as models rather than the word "trainset" which is what "little kids" have……..until he upsets you, the call it a train set…………just to annoy him.
